Traffic Blotter: Nissan Runs Into Brick Pillar in Front of Dollar Tree Store

Northern Regional Police Department provided the following information.

A Nissan ran into a brick pillar in front of the in Richland Township on April 1, according to a report.

Allison Carns, 32, of Gibsonia, told police she thought her 2006 Nissan Pathfinder was in reverse when she tried to back out of a parking space in front of the store at 400 Walmart Drive, the report states.

Instead, she struck the accelerator and the vehicle shot forward, striking the pillar, said police.

Store Manager Robert Harold told police that several bricks were dislodged, but the pillar appeared to be structurally sound.  

No injuries were reported.

Two Vehicles Collide at Intersection of Wallace, Village Run Road

Two vehicles collided Thursday at the intersection of Wallace and Village Run roads in Pine Township, according to a Northern Regional police report.

Ruth Neuhart, 61, of Wexford, was making a left onto Wallace Road from Village Run Road in Pine Township when the 6:30 p.m. collision occurred, police said.

Eric Sifford, 18, also of Wexford, was traveling straight across Wallace toward Village Run Road when his Chrysler Sebring struck the rear passenger side of Neuhart's Toyota Prius, said police.

Rear-End Collision Involves Three Vehicles on Route 8

Three vehicles were involved Thursday in rear-end collisions on Route 8 near Applewood Drive in Richland Township, police said.

A 2008 Ford F-350 driven by 61-year-old Merl Steimer, of West Mifflin ran into the back of a Volvo, which then ran into the back of a Chrysler Sebring, the police report states.

towed the Volvo, which was driven by 33-year-old Stephanie Maguire, of Pittsburgh, said police.

Allison Jezak, 24, of Pittsburgh, drove the Sebring, according to police.

The Sebring and Volvo had stopped on Route 8 for several vehicles ahead of them making a left turn onto Applewood Drive, said police.
