Traffic Blotter: Honda Accord Goes Over Embankment on Warrendale Road in Pine

Northern Regional Police Department provided the following information.

No one was injured when a Honda Accord went over an embankment on Warrendale Road near Greenwood Drive in Pine about 12:30 p.m. Sept. 30, police report.

Levi Zvirman, 18, of Wexford, told police his brakes failed when he tried to stop on westbound Warrendale, according to a Northern Regional Police report.

Zvirman said he steered the car to the right to avoid hitting a stopped vehicle in front of him and went over the embankment into the brush, police said.

McCandless-Franklin Park Ambulance Authority responded to check Zvirman, who said he was not injured, the police report states

Ford Fusion Slides Into Back of Pontiac on Community Center Drive

A Gibsonia woman told police her Ford Fusion slid on the wet surface of Community Center Drive in Richland Township about 11:30 a.m. Sept. 30 and ran into the back of a Pontiac Grand Am, according to a Northern Regional police report.

Lynn Horvath, 47, had to stop quickly because two vehicles in front of her stopped quickly at the intersection with Route 910 (Gibsonia Road), police said.

Police identified the Grand Am driver as Michelle Fischetti, 19, of Allison Park.

Both vehicles had light damage, police said.

Buick, Jeep Collide in Northtowne Square in Richland

An 87-year-old Gibsonia woman told police she must have blacked out as she drove through Northtowne Square and collided with a Jeep Commander about 3:30 p.m. Sept. 29, according to a Northern Regional Police Department report.

Phyllis Santella said she became dizzy and does not recall entering the intersection at Northtowne Square Drive, police said.

Richland EMS transported her to UPMC Passavant, the report states.

Melissa Clack, 39, of Gibsonia, was traveling westbound through Northtowne Square from Route 8, when Santella's Buick failed to stop for the posted stop sign and ran into the driver side of her 2007 Jeep Commander, police said.

A 2012 Honda driven by 54-year-old Marilyn Boulet, of Gibsonia, was stopped southbound at the four-way intersection and the left front fender of her vehicle was struck and the vehicle was dented from debris of the collision, police said.

Vehicle Crashes Into Guide Rail on Old State Road Curve in Pine

A Butler man lost control of his Ford Ranger as he started into a left curve on southbound Old State Road during heavy rain about 6 p.m. Sept. 27 , police said.

The pickup truck driven by 25-year-old Michael Jacobson left the road and struck the guide rail on the section of Old State Road between Bakerstown Road and Babcock Boulevard, the police report states.

Roger Boff’s Repair & Towing removed the vehicle from the guide rail and towed it, police said.

Hit and Run in Richland on Route 8

A white SUV drove onto a concrete lane divider on Route 8 near Northtowne Square in Richland and hit another vehicle on the left side as it maneuvered around it about 5:20 p.m. Sept. 27, according to a Northern Regional Police report.

The SUV continued south on Route 8 without stoppiing after hitting the vehicle driven by 59-year-old Myrtle L. Fink, of Cheswick, police said. Fink was stopped in the left southbound lane of Route 8 for a red traffic signal at Northtowne Square Drive, the report said.

Fink's vehicle sustained minor damage to the left rear fender, passenger door and driver’s side mirror, police said, and the side air bag deployed. 

One Injured in Head-On Collision on Route 910 in Richland

A 17-year-old driver lost control of her Chevrolet Suburban and crashed head-on into a Ford Mustang on Route 910 about 5 p.m. Sept. 27, police said.

The Mustang driver—Melissa Sutter, 46, of Verona—was transported to UPMC Presbyterian for a severe right ankle injury, left knee pain, facial lacerations and burns on her forearms from the airbag deployment, according to the police report.

The 17-year-old Gibsonia resident told police she lost control of her vehicle and crossed into the oncoming traffic lanes of Route 910 (Gibsonia Road) when she hydroplaned on the wet road, the report states.

The accident occured in the 3900 block of Route 910 between Bauer Drive and Anderson Road, police said.

Richland and Hampton EMS units responded.

Collision at Graham Road and English Drive in Pine

A Chevrolet Blazer slid into the back of an Acura that was stopped on English Road to make a turn onto Graham Road in Pine about 3:25 p.m. Sept. 27, according to Northern Regional Police Department.

The driver of the Blazer, a 17-year-old Mars resident, told police he tried to stop but slid on the wet road, police said.

Police identified the Acura driver as Christopher Gormley, 44, of Wexford.

Two Vehicles Collide on Wallace Extension in Pine

A Mazda attempting to make a left turn into the Walnut Grove parking lot collided with a Toyota Camry about 12:50 p.m. Sept. 27, according to a Northern Regional Police report.

Denise Puricelli, 45, of Mars, was traveling west on Wallace Extension in a 2010 Mazda 6 when she collided with the eastbound Camry as she made the left turn, police said.

Police identified the Camry driver as 57-year-old John F. Allen, of Wexford.

Ford Escape Hits Deer on Wexford Road in Pine

A 2006 Ford Escape hit and killed a deer that ran in front of it on Wexford Road near Lyndhurst Circle in Pine about 12:50 p.m. Sept. 29, police report.

The driver—John Martin Hagan, 32, Pittsburgh—was not injured.

Two-Vehicle Crash at Graham Road and English Road in Pine

A Saturn attempting to stop at the English Road-Graham Road intersection in Pine slid on the wet road and collided with a Chevrolet van about 8 a.m. Sept. 27, police said.

The Saturn driver—Judy Greene, 71, of Wexford—told police she was traveling north on English Road when she applied her brakes and slid through the Graham Road intersection, the police report states.

The Saturn collided with a van owned by Peter Paracca and Sons Inc. that was eastbound on Graham Road, said police.

Police identified the van driver as David Blackburn, 37, of Pittsburgh.

Dodge Hits Guardrail, Rolls Onto Side on Babcock Boulevard in Pine

A Dodge Dakota heading south on Babcock Boulevard south of the intersection with MacLeod Lane in Pine ran off the right side of the road, hit a guardrail and rolled onto its left side about 10 a.m. Sept. 26, police said.

Driver Andrew Hill, 23, of Lyndora, told police he lost control of his vehicle on the slick road, according to police.

The police report noted poor traction on all four tires and said they needed to be replaced.

Jeep Hits Deer on Wallace Road in Pine

A Jeep Liberty hit a deer that ran out in front of it about 11 a.m. Sept. 23 on Wallace Road near the Twin Oak intersection in Pine, police said.

Police said the Jeep driver, 30-year-old Robert W. Murcuri, of Wexford, was not injured.

Jetta Runs Into Back of Dodge Grand Caravan on Route 8

A Volkswagen Jetta ran into the back of a Dodge Grand Caravan on southbound Route 8 at the Heckert Road intersection in Richland about 4 p.m. Sept. 22, police said.

The Jetta driver, a 17-year-old from Butler, told police she ran into the Dodge when it stopped quickly as both vehicles started to travel straight ahead after the light turned green, police said.

The Dodge driver—Richard Boyle, 78, of Gibsonia—said he was completely stopped when his vehicle was hit, police said.

Rear-End Collision on Route 8 Near Cunningham in Richland

A 26-year-old woman told police she ran into the back of a Pontiac Bonneville when her foot slipped off the brake pedal as she was stopped on Route 8 near Cunningham Drive in Richland on Sept. 22, police said.

Cassandra Janel Thornsbury, said her Ford Fusion was in the southbound lane of Route 8 when the accident happened, according to police.

Police identified the Pontiac driver as Paul Clawson, 46, of Butler.

Nissan Runs Into Back of Pontiac on Route 910 in Richland

A 59-year-old Gibsonia man in a Nissan Altima ran into the back of a Pontiac Sunfire on westbound Route 910 in Richland about 6:45 a.m. Sept. 21, according to a police report.

Douglas John Schaefer told police he did not notice the Pontiac had stopped, the report states.

Police identified the Pontiac driver as 38-year-old Timothy Crowley, of Bakerstown.

School Bus, Car Collide in Richland Township

A Chevrolet Astro van turned left in front of a school bus and was struck broadside about 7:18 a.m. Sept. 20 on Bakerstown Road near the intersection with Grubbs Road in Richland, police said.

The van driver—Erik Boggs, 32, of Gibsonia—told police he was waiting to make a left onto Bakerstown Road and thought the bus had its right turn signal on, the police report states.

The bus driver—Jennifer Nelson, 59, of Valencia—said the van pulled out in front of the Monark Student Transportation Bluebird school bus as she traveled east on Bakerstown Road, according to the police report.

No students were on the bus, according to the report.
