Driver Hits Guide Rail, Sign, Car at St. Richard Church

Two good Samaritans helped a 76-year-old woman after she drove erratically up the driveway of , crossed the parking lot, hit a parked car and a handicapped parking sign, according to a report.

Daniel Brudy and Susan Martinez, both of Gibsonia, told police it looked as if a 2011 Cadillac DTS hit a guide rail as it pulled into the church's driveway off Dickey Road in Richland Township about 3 p.m. Aug. 12, the report states.

Police identified the driver as Norenne J. Krzan, of Gibsonia.

The Cadillac used the entire width of the driveway, going from side to side, as it traveled toward the parking lot, police said.

It then continued onto the flat parking lot, almost struck a light post, then attempted to pull into a parking space in the middle of the lot when the right front corner of the Cadillac struck the left rear side of a parked car, the report states.

The Cadillac then continued to drive through the parking space, across the grass and struck a handicap parking sign, police said.

Brudy and Martinez helped Krzan from her vehicle and into the church, police said.

Richland EMS evaluated Krzan and said she was able to provide correct responses and stated that she was not injured, police said.

However, she was not able to tell police what happened, the report states.

Krzan's husband, John, came to the church and told police he would take her to UPMC Passavant to be checked out, the report states.

Two Injured When Car Rolls Over in Pine

Two women were injured Aug. 11 when the Nissan Sentra in which they were traveling went into a roll off Warrendale Road in Pine Township and hit a tree, police said.

The 19-year-old driver—Jenna Ryan, of Mars—told police she did not know what happened, according to the police report. She said she remembered traveling around a curve near Rabold Fields housing plan and "the next thing she knew she was upside down,” the report states.

Ryan and an 18-year-old passenger— Marissa Confer, of Cranberry—were transported to UPMC Passavant by McCandless-Franklin Park and Cranberry EMS, police said.

The investigating officer observed about 50 feet of tire marks, which began about three feet left of center in the eastbound lane, the report states.

The officer states in the report that it appears the Nissan had entered the eastbound lane and the driver steered hard to the right, causing the car to begin rotating clockwise.

The Nissan traveled up an embankment and rolled, traveling 90 feet after leaving the road, police said. While rolling, the car hit a construction zone sign before coming to a rest on its roof with the rear passenger side against a tree, according to the report.

Driver Drops Lit Cigarette, Runs Red Light

A 22-year-old Gibsonia man reached down to grab a lit cigarette he dropped on the floor Aug. 1 and ran through a red light and into a Jeep at the Route 8-Heckert Road intersection in Richland Township, Northern Regional police said.

Joseph Myle Mahoney III was southbound on Route 8/William Flynn Highway when the Jeep Liberty made a left in front of him onto Route 8 from Heckert Road, police said.

Police identified the Jeep driver as 55-year-old Sandy L. McClammer, of Tarentum.

Mahoney's Suzuki caught the right front bumper of the Jeep with his driver’s side front and rear doors.

Police issued a citation to Mahoney for failing to obey a traffic control device.

One Transported to Hospital After Collision in Front of Olives & Peppers

Hampton EMS transported a 42-year-old Butler woman to UPMC Passavant Hospital on Aug. 4 after a Dodge Neon ran into the back of the Chevrolet Malibu in which she was riding on Route 8, police said.

Renee Watterson was a front-seat passenger when the Chevrolet stopped for another vehicle making a left into the parking lot for restaurant in Richland Township, according to the police report.

Sherry Wenck, 41, of Butler, was driving the Chevrolet Malibu, police said.

Police identified 20-year-old Tyler Weleski, of Saxonburg, as the driver of the Neon, which sustained severe front-end damage.

Two Injured When SUV, Motorcycle Collide

Two people were injured July 31 when a motorcycle and SUV collided in front of the on Route 8, according to a police report.

Darla Roberts, 57, of Gibsonia, was turning left into the parking lot of the Richland Hotel at 5370 Route 8 when her Chevrolet Equinox collided with the motorcycle traveling in the opposite direction, police said.

The impact pushed the motorcycle onto its right side, injuring the driver's leg, the report states.

Police identified the driver of the 2006 Harley-Davidson Road King motorcycle as 61-year-old Regis Kessler, of Tarentum.

Richland and McCandless-Franklin Park EMS transported Roberts and Kessler to St. Margaret’s Hospital.

Witnesses told police that traffic was slowing and stopping and Roberts pulled into the gap left in front of her SUV.

Rear-End Collision on Route 8 at Ewalt Road Intersection

A Ford Taurus ran into the back of a Chevrolet Silverado that was stopped on Route 8 in Richland Township about 12:15 p.m. July 30, Northern Regional police said.

Police identified the Ford driver as 66-year-old Lois Elaine Beilstein, of Allison Park.

The Silverado driver—Frederick C. Grosshaupt, 67, of Butler—was stopped for a red light at the Ewalt Road intersection, the police report states.

Rear-End Collison on Route 19

A Texas man told police he wasn't paying attention July 30 when he ran into the back of a Pontiac G8 on Route 19 in Pine Township, police said.

Teddy Wade Allen, 52, of Gladewater, TX, was driving a 2006 Ford F100 when the 7:30 a.m. accident occurred at the intersection with Wallace Road Extension, according to the police report.

Police identified the Pontiac driver as 45-year-old Reid Matthew Muchler, of Cranberry Township.

Lincoln Town Car Hydroplanes, Runs Into Wood Fence

A 23-year-old Freedom man told police he lost control of his 1995 Lincoln Town Car when it started to hydroplane July 28 as he drove west on Warrendale-Bayne Road in Pine Township, a police report states.

The car traveled into a yard in the 600 block of Warrendale-Bayne and hit a wooden fence, police said.

Tree Branch Falls on Dodge Ram 2500, Breaks Windshield

No injuries were reported July 26 when a large tree branch fell and broke the passenger-side windshield of a Dodge Ram 2500 as it traveled on Babcock Boulevard in Pine Township, police said.

John Jay Pritts, 57, of Butler was approaching Tierra Vista Drive at about 9:50 a.m. when the branch fell on the vehicle owned by SR Plumbing of Slippery Rock, the police report states.

Suzuki Runs Into Back of Mercedes-Benz

A Suzuki ran into the back of a Mercedes-Benz that was stopped at a yield sign on North Chapel Drive in Pine Township around 9 p.m July 25, police said.

Brittany Nicole Slagle, 22, of Bellevue, told police she was unable to stop in time to avoid running into the back of the Mercedes when she traveled onto the North Chapel ramp from northbound Route 19, according to the police report.

Police identified the Mercedes driver as 52-year-old Renate C. Oxenreiter, of Presto, PA.

Honda Civic, Ford Fusion Collide

Two vehicles collided July 21 at the intersection of Village Run and Village Place in Pine Township, police said.

A Honda Civic driven by 40-year-old Heeyoung Lee, of Wexford was turning left from Village Place onto Village Run when she collided with a Ford Fusion traveling straight on Village Run, the police report states.

The Ford driver—Meghan C. Pierson, 24, of Eldred, PA—told police a truck was pulling into the Village at Pine shopping plaza and that might have blocked Lee's view.
