Traffic Blotter: Deer Hit, Truck and Car Collide, and More in Pine Township

Northern Regional Police Department supplied the following information.

Chevrolet Tracker Hits Deer on Route 910

Brian Nolan, 46, of Gibsonia was traveling west on Route 910 near Reynolds Road at about 6:30 a.m. July 3 when a deer crossed in front of him and he struck it with the front passenger side of his 2002 Chevrolet Tracker, according to a Northern Regional Police Department report.

The driver was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, police said.

Lexus Runs Into Honda While Changing Lanes on Route 19

Two vehicles collided about 7:15 p.m. July 1 when one changed lanes on Route 19/Perry Highway and ran into the other near the North Chapel Drive intersection, police said.

Joseph Schmitt Jr., 76, of Wexford was in the left lane traveling north on Route 19 when he changed lanes and ran into a 2009 Honda Pilot , police said.

The Honda driven by Lisa Shikora, 53, of Pittsburgh sustained minor damage to the driver’s side, said police.

Schmitt’s 1994 Lexus GS300 sustained minor damage to the front passenger side, police said.

 “[Schmitt] said that he looked and did not see anyone in the right lane, signaled, and began to go into the right lane. He said that [2009 Honda Pilot] came from nowhere and before he could get into the right-hand lane, he struck [the Honda],” the police report states.

 

Truck Sideswipes Subaru Legacy to Avoid Head-On Collision

A Mack truck traveling north on Route 19 near the Brown Road intersection sideswiped a vehicle July 1 when it changed lanes to avoid a head-on collision, according to a Northern Regional police report.

Robert Webb III, 34, of Aliquippa told police he changed lanes when he saw a southbound vehicle start to come into his lane, the report said.

The truck’s right front tire struck the driver’s side of a 2003 Subaru Legacy driven by 72-year-old June Goralczyk of Pittsburgh, the report stated.

Webb told police there is a blind spot in the 2002 Mack CL7 that he was driving, according to the report. The truck is owned by H&M Service of Pittsburgh.

 

Two Cars Towed, One Driver Goes to Hospital

A 17-year-old driver from Gibsonia “looked down for a second” and crashed into the back of a minivan that was stopped on Wallace Road in Pine Township to make a left turn at about 9:20 a.m. June 28, a Northern Regional police report states.

The driver of the 2009 Chrysler minivan, Rebecca Toy, 37, of Wexford, was transported to UPMC by McCandless-Franklin Park EMS for neck pain, said police.

Toy had stopped to make a left turn onto Tanglewood Drive, police said.

The minor’s 2007 Mazda SUV had heavy front damage and the Chrysler minivan had heavy rear damage, police said.

Both vehicles were towed by John B. Lombardo’s Complete Collision, the police report stated.
