Deer Cause Three Accidents on Local Roads in 24-Hour Period

Northern Regional Police Department supplied the following information.

Deer continued the yearly ritual of jumping in front of cars during mating season and caused three accidents on Pine-Richland roads within a 24-hour period recently, according to police reports.

Deer are more likely to step into the path of vehicles during the October-January rutting season, PennDOT statistics show.

Nearly half of all reportable crashes in the past five years involving deer occurred in October and November, with nearly 77 percent taking place between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m., according to PennDOT.
