Smoking Computer Sends Fire Department to Pine-Richland Schools' Administration Building

No fire damage reported.

A piece of computer equipment at went bad and started smoking Friday morning, prompting a call to , said Fire Chief Tim Flaherty.

A district employee encountered "a haze of smoke" when opening a door to the room with the computer equipment, Flaherty said.

The maintenance staff took the computer equipment outside and the fire company verified there were no other problems, the fire chief said.

"It was fortunately not anything more severe," Flaherty said.

"We are back in operation. We did not close the building; it was minor," said Tara Bennett, administrative assistant to the superintendent's office.

The district offices are located at 702 Warrendale Road, directly behind Pine-Richland High School in Gibsonia/Pine Township.
