Richland Traffic Blotter: Pedestrian Struck in Bank Parking Lot, Rear-End Collisions on Route 8, and More

The Northern Regional Police Department supplied the following information.

Pedestrian Hit in NexTier Bank Parking Lot

Christopher Cassidy, 22, of Valencia was driving Aug. 3 around in Northtowne Square when he struck a pedestrian in the parking lot, according to a report.

took Jackie Pistorius, 46, of Cheswick to UPMC Passavant the report said. She told police that she was in the middle of the parking lot in Richland Township when a 2001 Honda Accord came around the building and struck her with the front left corner, police said.

The driver said he did not see the pedestrian because high decorative grasses on the side of the building blocked his view, said police.

He told police the pedestrian hit the front left side of his vehicle, began to rotate around from the impact, hitting the left mirror and falling to the ground, the report said.

Vehicles Collide in Construction Area on Route 8

Kathleen Taylor, 48, of Valencia ran into the back of a 2004 Ford F-250 Aug. 2 in a construction area on Route 8, according to a police report.

Jacob Montag, 20, of Valencia said he had just changed lanes on Route 8 at St. George Drive in Richland Township when the collision occurred about noon, police said.

Both vehicles were traveling southbound on Route 8 and had slowed for traffic because of construction, the report said.

Taylor said she was merging her 1999 Chrysler Cirrus from the curb lane to the inside lane because of construction and was not paying attention when she collided with the pickup, said police.

Woman Runs Red Light, Collides with Saturn Aura

An 18-year-old Gibsonia woman traveling on Route 8 ran a red light and collided with a 2008 Saturn Aura making a left turn onto Grandview Crossing at 9:15 p.m. July 30, a police report stated.

Anneliese Freitag, 18, of Gibsonia told police she did not see that the traffic light was red, according to the report.

Colleen Perrucci, 28, of Gibsonia was driving the Saturn, police said.

Tom Henry Chevrolet of Bakerstown towed Freitag’s 2006 Ford Escape and the Saturn.

Consolidated Communications Pole Hit

A 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier that Hillary Harbison, 18, of Gibsonia was driving lost traction and hit a pole July 29 when turning from Route 8 onto Heckert Road in Richland Township, police said.

“As she came off of Route 8 she was negotiating a left curve. The vehicle lost traction and she hit [a] Consolidated Communications pole,” a police report stated. “This has been the site of multiple crashes after and during a rainstorm.”

Phone and cable lines going from the pole to 5864 Heckert Road were brought down also, the report said.

Driver Distraction Leads to Three-Vehicle Collision

A 17-year-old Valencia girl was distracted when driving July 28 on Route 8 in Richland Township and ran into the back of a 2008 Volkswagen Passat that was stopped at the Northtowne Square intersection, police said.

The Passat, which Sara Schindler, 19, of Gibsonia was driving, was pushed into a 2006 Chevrolet Impala that Patricia Nock, 57 was driving, police said.

The 17-year-old told police she was “distracted and looked down for a moment,” then could not stop in time when she looked up and realized traffic was stopped, said police.
