Pine Traffic Blotter: Blind Spots Blamed for Collisions; Minor Hits Brick Pillar

Northern Regional Police Department supplied the following information.

Lane Change on Route 19 Ends in Collision

Two vehicles collided Aug. 2 when one attempted to change lanes on Route 19 / Perry Highway near Midas Muffler in Pine Township, reported.

Paul Roden, 31, of Pittsburgh told police he did not see another vehicle when he changed from the right to left lane because of a blind spot in his 2007 Honda Odyssey, the police report states.

Roden collided with a 2011 Honda Pilot that Timothy McElroy, 49, of Gibsonia was driving, police said. The Honda was towed.

Ford Mustang Ends Up Stuck on Guide Rail

A Maryland woman lost control of her 2007 Ford Mustang and struck a guide rail as she traveled Route 910 in Pine Township on the afternoon of July 24, police said.

Beth Ann Mauro, 33, of Edgewater was coming down a hill near the Pearce Mill Road intersection when her car got onto the berm and gravel and started to fishtail, the police report said.

"As she tried to regain control of the vehicle, she struck the guide rail on the opposite side of the road with the front end, and she then spun and struck the same guide rail with the rear of the vehicle," according to the police report.

John B. Lombardo Complete Collision of Warrendale towed the Mustang because it was stuck on the guide rail and not driveable, police said.

 

BMW, Lexus Collide on Wexford Road

Deborah Gaita, 37, tried to move into the left-turn lane on Wexford Road in Pine Township when her 2008 BMW 328 collided with the right side of another vehicle on the morning of Aug. 2, police said.

Gaita told police the other vehicle, a 2007 Lexus ES 350 that 32-year-old Jessica Wilson of Sewickley was driving, was in her blind spot, the police report stated.

 

Minor Hits Brick Pillar on Babcock Boulevard

A 17-year-old male from Gibsonia lost control of his 1989 Ford Crown Victoria and hit a brick pillar on Babcock Boulevard in Pine Township, a Northern Regional Police Department report stated.

The driver told police he was traveling south on Babcock about 10 a.m. Aug. 3 when he lost control on a curve on the wet road and hit the pillar at the entrance to Tamarack Farm at 11070 Babcock Boulevard, the report said.
