Northern Regional Police Planning DUI Checkpoint

The checkpoint will take place in September.

You’ve been warned.

The Northern Regional Police Department, which serves Pine, Richland and Marshall townships, as well as Bradford Woods, will hold a DUI Checkpoint in the Pine Township area sometime between Sept. 17 and Sept. 30.

Police Chief T. Robert Amann did not reveal a specific date or place for where the checkpoint will be located. He added the Wexford Volunteer Fire Company would assist officers with the checkpoint.

When police pull drivers over for suspected drunken driving, officers ask them to perform field sobriety tests and to take a breath test to measure Blood Alcohol Content.

A BAC test measures the percentage of alcohol present in a person's bloodstream. Pennsylvania's legal limit is 0.08.

According to the Virginia Tech Alcohol Abuse Prevention website, every 40 minutes, 0.01 percent of alcohol leaves your system.
