Butler County judge sentences Kevin Johnson to 11 to 22 ½ years in prison.

An ex-Seneca Valley Junior ROTC instructor is heading to prison for at least a decade.

Butler County Common Pleas Judge Timothy McCune on Friday sentenced Kevin Johnson to 11 to 22 ½ years in prison.

In December, the 54-year-old retired Army sergeant major from Portersville was found guilty of sexually assaulting a young man . The charges included involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, a first-degree felony.

Johnson was found not guilty of molesting a second former student in the program who testified during the trial that Johnson

Charges were first filed against Johnson after his arrest in February 2008. His first trial in 2009 ended in a mistrial after Len Keller, the then-police chief of Jackson Township, testified that Johnson had declined to submit to a polygraph test. The test results are not admissible in court.

The second trial did not take place until December 2011.
