National Weather Service Warns of Black Ice Patches
Overpasses and bridges are particularly vulnerable.
Accidents on icy bridges are reported throughout the area and the National Weather Service issued a statement warning of black ice patches overnight.
Overpasses and bridges can be particularly vulnerable to having patches of black ice, the weather service said.
"The black ice has developed due to the combination of pavements having become wet from the all-day light snowfall and temperatures having gotten colder than freezing tonight," according to the weather service statement.

About 6:30 p.m. police had closed the West Hardies Road bridge over the Turnpike, just south of the Richland Township line.
Accidents on I-79 and I-76 [the Turnpike] also were reported.
