Formal Arraignment Set for Man Charged With Stealing Mini Cooper from Billco Motors

Jeffery James Yeargin, 36, is charged with felony count of theft.

A 36-year-old man charged with taking a silver 2005 Mini Cooper S for a test drive and never returning it to  in Wexford is scheduled for a June 25 formal arraignment.

Jeffery James Yeargin, formerly of Mount Washington, waived his preliminary hearing last week when he appeared before Magisterial District Judge William K. Wagner. 

He is charged with a felony count of theft by unlawful taking. Yeargin remains in the Allegheny County Jail, with bail set at $10,000.

A Billco salesman told  that Yeargin came in about 7 p.m. Jan. 16 to take a test drive and never returned, the criminal complaint states.

The salesman made a photocopy of Yeargin's license and entered the name into the company's computer, according to the criminal complaint. But the photocopy was missing when the salesman looked for it later, the court documents show.

Yeargin was arrested during an early April traffic stop by police in Cambridge, OH, according to the Daily Jeffersonian in Cambridge, OH, which is about 120 miles from Wexford.

A check of the vehicle's license plate revealed it should have been on a black 1982 GMC vehicle, the Daily Jeffersonian article states. A dispatcher then checked the vehicle identification number and learned it had been reported as stolen, according to the article.
