The charges stem from an 11 p.m. incident Jan. 9 when a 1989 Chevrolet Celebrity station wagon was reported to be driving on the wrong side of the road on Route 8, running cars off the road, jumping a curb, traveling over a snow bank and veering across oncoming lanes of traffic, police said. The car eventually stopped at at 5370 William Flynn Highway/Route 8, police said.

A field sobriety test conducted on Cyphert was “unsatisfactory,” the police report states. Cyphert was taken to UPMC Passavant Hospital for a blood test, then back to the police station where he was released in the custody of a friend, police said.

Wexford Woman, 67, Charged with Stealing from Giant Eagle

A 67-year-old Wexford woman will stand trial on charges of stealing several items worth $71.62 at the Giant Eagle in Pine Township, according to a report from Northern Regional Police Department.

Christina A. Horner was arrested March 25 and her preliminary hearing was waived  April 1, which sends the case to the Allegheny Court of Common Pleas.

Ryan N. Lanetz of Giant Eagle's loss-prevention staff told police he took Horner into custody for concealing various personal care and food items in her pants, coat and purse, according to the police report. He said he stopped her after she paid for a few items in her shopping cart, police said.

“When questioned about the incident, Horner admitted to taking the reported items from Giant Eagle, but said she did not know what made her commit the crime,” according to the police report.

“Horner was given a no-trespass order for the Giant Eagle on Towne Center Drive [in the Village at Pine in Wexford]. If she returns to that location, Horner was advised she would be arrested for criminal trespassing,” the police report said.
