Community Invited to Wexford VFC Halloween Costume Parade and Contest

Festivities set for Friday evening on Manor Road in Wexford.

Looking for princesses, Harry Potter, the Little Mermaid, ghosts and goblins?

You just might find them Friday evening parading along Manor Road in Wexford at the 's annual Halloween Costume Parade and Contest.

The parade starts at 6 p.m. when the costumed characters line up at the at the corner of Manor and Church roads in Pine Township.

Fire trucks with their sirens blaring bring up the rear as the parade proceeds down Manor Road and ends at , where the costume contest will be held.

"It's open to all," said Alma Covarrubias, secretary for the Wexford VFC Board of Directors. "Come on by and enjoy the parade and costume contest."

For the costume contest, prizes are awarded for the funniest, prettiest, scariest and most original costumes.

First and second prizes are $15 and $10 gift cards, respectively, to Toys "R" Us. The fire department provides candy bags to all of the children with apples donated by Shenot Farms. 

Last year about 80 people joined the parade on a very cold day, said Covarrubias. This year Wexford VFC has 200 candy bags ready for the ghosts, ghouls and other characters.
