UPDATE: Van Hits Utility Pole on Warrendale Road Near Pine Community Park

No injuries reported in one-vehicle accident.

UPDATE: A van (not a car as originally reported) ran into a utility pole Tuesday afternoon, but no one was seriously injured in the accident on Warrendale Road near the entrance to Pine Community Park, according to Wexford Volunteer Fire Co. Chief Tim Flaherty.

Firefighters were directing traffic around the area as of 3:15 p.m. and Flaherty said they were waiting for a utility company to arrive to finish cleanup at the site.

Around 6:30 p.m. traffic on Warrendale Road was down to one lane as utility trucks lined the road and workers repaired or replaced the pole.

Pine-Richland Patch reader Brenden Taylor reports that he drove past the accident about 1:20 p.m. and saw a Suburban Insulation van completely off the road in a snowy embankment where it hit the pole.

The driver was out of the van, talking on a cell phone, the reader said.
