You Might Want to Avoid I-79 This Weekend

Single-lane traffic will occur in both directions on I-79 in the area of the bridge over Mingo Road between Exits 73 and 75 in Marshall Township.

Traffic on I-79 will be reduced to a single lane in both directions this weekend in the area of the bridge over Mingo Road in Marshall Township as crews install a temporary concrete barrier, PennDOT's District 11 announced.

The stretch of highway is between Exits 73 and 75. 

But that's not all.

"Single-lane traffic will also occur on Warrendale-Bayne Road in the area under I-79 and also on the ramp from northbound I-79 to Cranberry (Exit 76), which passes over southbound I-79," according to a press release from James B. Struzzi II, PennDOT press officer.

Restrictions will occur as needed from 7 a.m. on Saturday to 5 a.m. on Monday, he said.

The work is part of a that is expected to be completed in the fall.

The prime contractor for the project is Swank Associated Companies Inc. of New Kensington.
