Winter Weather Advisory: Mix of Snow, Sleet, Freezing Rain Predicted for Morning Rush

The storm is expected to begin after midnight.

There could be very little rush to the Monday-morning rush hour. The National Weather service in Pittsburgh has issued a winter-weather advisory from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday for most of Western Pennsylvania, including Pine and Richland Townships.

A mixture of snow, sleet, and freezing rain is expected overnight into Monday morning. Because of very cold ground and snow pack, roads and sidewalks are expected to be icy.

  • Sunday Night: Snow and freezing rain before 5am, then snow, freezing rain, and sleet. Low around 29. Southeast wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half-inch possible.
  • Monday: Rain or freezing rain, becoming all rain after 11 a.m. High near 43. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter- and a half-inch possible.
  • Monday Night: A chance of showers. Cloudy, with a low around 43. Southwest wind 11 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New precipitation amounts between a 10th and a quarter-inch possible.
