Motorists Told to Stay Off Roads Because of Snow

Winter storm warning in effect.

A winter storm warning is in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday and motorists are warned to stay off the snowy, icy roads, according to the National Weather Service.

An accumulation of 5 to 8 inches of snow is expected, with the heaviest snowfall occurring before midnight, the weather service said in a 7 p.m. statement.

"A winter storm warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring," the weather service reported. "Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency."
