UPDATED Winter Weather Advisory: Freezing Rain & Snow Predicted for Pine-Richland Area

A wintry mix of precipitation will affect the area.

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a winter weather advisory for the Pittsburgh region, including the Pine-Richland area, until 2 p.m. Monday.

Ice accumulations of up to a tenth of an inch and snow accumulations of up to 1 inch is possible. The snow and ice is expected to be most intense Monday morning and end by afternoon. 

Hazardous travel conditions are possible due to sleet and ice-covered roads.

Here's a more detailed look at the forecast:

  • Monday: Snow and freezing rain, possibly mixed with sleet before noon, then rain and snow between noon and 1 p.m., then rain after 1 p.m. High near 41. Southeast wind around 17 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible.
  • Monday Night: Rain, mainly before 3 a.m. Low around 35. Southeast wind 8 to 13 mph becoming southwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
