What Halloween Festivities Are Happening in Pine and Richland?
Ghosts stories, hayrides, costume parades and more are in store.
That Halloween chill is in the air and the Pine-Richland community is getting ready for witches, ghosts and goblins to appear.
Here are the Halloween festivities planned in Pine and Richland:

Pumpkin Decorating Contest
When: Oct. 1-28
Where: Pine Community Center

What: Decorated (not carved) pumpkins are on display at Pine Community Center for the First Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest. Votes will be collected and all proceeds will benefit your charity of choice. Voting: Oct. 1-28. 1 vote =$1. The winner will be announced Oct. 29.
Deadline to Register for Richland Halloween Party
When: Friday, Oct. 19
What: Deadline to register for the Halloween celebration at Richland Township Community Park to be held Sunday, Oct. 21. (See below.) Click here for the registration form. Phone registrations will not be accepted. Appropriate for ages up to 10 years old. Fee for residents: $5.50 per child and $8 for non-residents.
Halloween Party in Pine Community Park
When: 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20
Where: Pine Community Park
What: Crafts, ghost stories, hayride, bonfire, a costume parade and contest. In addition, the park's new gazebo will be dedicated.
Richland Community Park Boo-Barn
When: 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21
Where: Richland Community Park Barn
What: A night of spooky fun. Children can take part in pumpkin and cookie decorating, crafts, face painting and games. As night draws near, the Spooky Hay Wagon will take visitors for a ride through the trails of Richland Community Park.
Haunted Pennsylvania
When: 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 22
Where: Northern Tier Library
What: Steel City Ghost Hunters will present evidence from their investigations at haunted sites. Registration is required.
Halloween Party at Northern Tier Library
When: 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30
Where: Northern Tier Library
What: Pumpkin decorating, create-your-own brownie monster; scary stories, outdoor pinata. Come in costume for the Halloween parade. Registration is required. Click here to register.
Trick-or-Treating
When: 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31
Where: Pine and Richland townships
Safety tips for a fun Halloween:
- Go only to houses you know
- Have your parents check your treats
- Wear white or reflective clothing
- Throw wrappers in the trash
