Renovations Set to Begin at Richland Elementary School

Mazzei Construction expects to have the upgrades complete within 90 days.

The entrances to Richland Elementary School are about to get a make over.

Pine-Richland School Board voted unanimously March 25 to award Mazzei Construction Inc. a $194,500 contract to complete two new, canopied entrances and a new parking lot.

According to the Tribune Review, Mazzei will build a new 12-space parking lot near the school's northwest corner. The Richland firm offered the lowest of four bids.

The school board ordered the renovations to increase safety and security at the elementary building. Richland Elementary School's main entrance currently allows people to enter the halls without passing the office.

The Trib says Mazzei will create a new, second entrance to use after the main entrance is locked during classes. The construction company will also build a new covered entry to Pine-Richland's departments of special education and psychological services.
