Reminder: Babcock Boulevard Changes to Single Lane Today

Traffic on Babcock Boulevard will be reduced to a single lane today.

Restrictions will occur daily as needed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the area under the McKnight Road overpass through Aug. 19 as crews perform overhead bridge work.

Flags crews will control traffic. Motorists should use caution, slow down and expect delays.

The prime contractor is Lindy Paving Inc. of New Castle. 

The work is part of a $8.8 million, 4.6 mile-project that includes milling and resurfacing, concrete pavement patching, drainage, guide rail, concrete barrier, curb and sidewalk improvements, curb ramp installation, signing and pavement markings, and signal upgrades on McKnight Road between Nelson Run Road and Perrymont Road, according to PennDOT.

Bridge preservation will also occur on the structure that carries McKnight Road over Babcock Boulevard including latex modified concrete deck surfacing, resetting rocker bearings, pedestrian railing repairs, concrete repairs, and other improvements. 

Overall work is scheduled to conclude in the fall.
