PennDOT Projects Suspended for Labor Day Weekend

Long-term restrictions will remain in place.

For the most part, PennDOT is taking the Labor Day weekend off, which is good news for Pine-Richland drivers headed in and out of downtown Pittsburgh.

The HOV lanes on the Parkway North are open to all outbound traffic this weekend after 7 p.m. on Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. In addition, the two-passenger-per-vehicle rule does not apply during weekend hours.

And unlike most summer weekends, there will be no restrictions for:

  • Squirrel Hill Tunnel
  • Grant Street Tunnel off the Parkway East
  • UPDATE—Banksville Road —No Friday evening work, which was originally scheduled.
  • Crosstown Boulevard/Veterans Bridge. (The long-term closure of the ramp from Crosstown Boulevard to the Boulevard of the Allies will remain in place.)
