Hearing Postponed for Couple Charged With Providing Alcohol to Minors at Graduation Party

Steven and Susan Lewandowski's hearing is rescheduled for Nov. 7.

A preliminary hearing for a couple charged with providing alcohol to minors at their son’s graduation party was postponed Wednesday.

Steven and Susan Lewandowski of Marshall Township are charged with providing alcohol to 12 people under the age of 21 and possessing a baggie of marijuana, the criminal complaint states.

The hearing before Magisterial District Judge Suzanne Blaschak is rescheduled for Nov. 7.

Northern Regional police were called to the couple’s home on Summit Drive about 2 a.m. July 29 after receiving a complaint of a loud party, according to court documents. The home is just west of the Pine Township line.

Officers found a beer keg in the backyard, the complaint states.

When speaking with homeowner Susan Lewandowski, “it was apparent that there was a party going on downstairs,” the complaint states.

“Officers went downstairs and observed numerous young males and young females in the basement with beer cans and cups full of beer littering the entire area," according to the complaint. “Upon a search of the basement, two beer bongs and a small bag of marijuana were found.” 

Officers gave portable breath tests to 12 persons under the age of 21 and found all had a positive reading for alcohol, the complaint states.

The Lewandowskis told police they had a high school graduation party for their son, the complaint states.

“While speaking with the homeowners, it was apparent that they knew alcohol consumption was going on by these persons who were from the age of 16 to 19 years of age,” the complaint said.

“The homeowners stated that they took the keys from all of the people who drove to the party,” according to the complaint.
