Long-Term Restrictions on McKnight Road Start Next Week

Work is part of an $8.8 million road-improvement project.

PennDOT District 11 is reminding motorists that long-term traffic restrictions on McKnight Road in McCandless and Ross townships will begin on Thursday night.

The work is part of an $8.8 million project for improvements on a 4.6-mile stretch between Nelson Run Road and Perrymont Road. Bridge preservation will also occur on the structure that carries McKnight Road over Babcock Boulevard. 

The following traffic changes will start next week and continue through October:

  • Long-term single-lane traffic on McKnight Road at the bridge over Babcock Boulevard will begin at 8 p.m. on Thursday. 
  • Single-lane closures on Babcock Boulevard in the area of McKnight Road will occur from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday-Friday nights.
  • Nightly single-lane closures on McKnight Road from Nelson Run Road to Perrymont Road:

Monday-Friday nights

o   Northbound (outbound) – 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

o   Southbound (inbound) – 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Saturdays

o   Northbound – 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. on Sundays

o   Southbound – 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. on Sundays

The overall work will conclude in the fall, PennDOT said. The prime contractor is Lindy Paving Inc. of New Castle.
