Expect slowdowns on I-79 northbound on Friday night and Saturday as traffic is taken down to a single lane in the area of the bridge over Mingo Road between Exits 73 and 75 in Marshall Township, PennDOT District 11 announced.

Restrictions will occur from 10 p.m. Friday through 7 p.m. Saturday.

Crews will shift traffic onto the newly reconstructed right side of the northbound bridge. To complete the shift, workers have to deal with barrier resetting and line painting.

Once the shift is completed, two lanes of traffic will be restored on northbound I-79 in this area.

A traffic shift will also occur on westbound Warrendale-Bayne Road in the area below I-79 for bridge-painting operations, according to PennDOT.

This work, which was originally planned for Saturday, has been postponed until Tuesday. Expect brief traffic stoppages and single-lane restrictions between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. on westbound Warrendale-Bayne Road while the shift is implemented, PennDOT said.

I-79 will not be affected in this area.

All this work is part of a $10 million project on several I-79 bridges that is scheduled to be completed this fall.

The prime contractor for the project is Swank Associated Companies Inc. of New Kensington PA.

As always, PennDOT stresses safety in the construction areas and advises motorists "to use caution, slow down, and expect changing traffic patterns when traveling through the area."
