Guide Rails to be Repaired Tuesday on I-79 and I-279

Traffic on I-79 and I-279 most likely will slow down a bit Tuesday as guide rails are repaired.

Intermittent single-lane and shoulder closures will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in several locations on I-79 and the Parkway North [I-279] in Allegheny County, weather permitting, according to a statement from PennDOT District 11.

All exits and ramps will remain open as contractor crews work on the guide rail repairs, said PennDOT. 

Work will be done on I-79 southbound between the Parkway North [I-279 Exit 72] and Glenfield [Exit 66] interchanges, PennDOT said.

Crews will work on the Parkway North [I-279] in both directions from I-79 to the Perrysville interchange [Exit 5].

The prime contractor for the repairs is Penn Line Services Inc.

PennDOT advises motorists to use caution and slow down when traveling through the area.
