Where/When: Auditorium; 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Find out what's happening in Pine-Richlandwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Why Go: This is a great outing for families with elementary and middle school children. Based on the Victor Hugo novel of the same name, "Les Miserables" is set in the early 19th century and tells the interwoven stories of a cast of characters during a 17-year period culminating in the June Rebellion. Pine-Richland High School’s musicals have a reputation for being among the best – last year’s production of “Children of Eden” garnered four Gene Kelly awards.

Pricing: Pre-order ticket prices are $12 for adults; $10 for students and seniors; $8 for open balcony. Tickets purchased on the day of the show are $12 for reserved seats and $10 for balcony seats.

Dance Dance Revolution (Xer Dance)

Where/When: Pine Township Community Center; from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Why Go: Get your groove on, work up a sweat, and share some family fun, all at the same time. Dance Dance Revolution is the hit interactive video game in which players stand on a "dance platform" and stomp their feet on colored arrows in time to musical and visual cues. It’s great exercise – if your kids can stop laughing at your moves long enough to try it out themselves.

Pricing: Free to members, $5 per person for non-members.

Golfing

Where/When: Cranberry Highlands Golf Course

Why Go: The weather forecast looks great later this week and it’s light until at least 7 p.m., so why not squeeze in a short nine-hole round with your favorite junior golfer?  Special off-season rates are in effect for March, and kids age 6 and up are welcome on the course.

Pricing: $16 for residents, $18 for non-residents for nine holes of golf.

Fun Fore All Marine Assistance Event

Where/When: Fun Fore All Family Entertainment Center in Cranberry; from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Why Go: Here’s an opportunity to have fun and help others at the same time. At this special event, Fun Fore All is accepting donations of items that military personnel cannot readily access while serving on active duty. In exchange for your donation, you will receive a $10 Fun Card good for use on any of Fun Fore All’s dozens of attractions such as mini golf, bumper boats, batting cages, video games and go karts. Some donation ideas include phone cards, snacks and toiletries.

Pricing: Admission is free; attractions priced individually; see website for more information.

"Shrek the Musical"

Where/When: Benedum Center in Downtown Pittsburgh; now through Sunday; see website for available showtimes.

Why Go: Kids found the farting, belching, nose-picking ogre irresistible in the popular "Shrek" movie series. A good number of parents also laughed it up at the antics of Shrek and his misfit crew of fairytale characters. So Shrek fans are sure to be delighted with this 19-song musical version that USA Today called “A triumph of comic imagination, altogether irresistible!”

Pricing: $22 to $75 per ticket depending on date and showtime.
