Expect 'Significant' Delays on I-79 in Marshall This Weekend

PennDOT said single-lane traffic begins at 10 p.m. Friday.

Expect "significant delays" this weekend if you are traveling I-79 in the area of the Warrendale-Bayne Road interchange, Exit 75, PennDOT District 11 announced in a press release.

The interstate will be reduced to single-lane traffic in both directions in that area Friday and Saturday. Restrictions will occur from 10 p.m. on Friday through approximately 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Crews have completed work to reconstruct the left half of the Warrendale-Bayne Road overpass bridges. Work this weekend will include painting lines and installation of temporary barriers to shift traffic onto the newly reconstructed lanes and begin improvement of the right side of the structures.

The $10-million project includes deck replacements, latex overlays, expansion dam replacements, substructure repairs, bituminous paving, drainage and guide rail upgrades, pavement markings, culvert cleaning and stream restoration, and other improvements on several I-79 bridges.

All ramps and exits will remain open. The overall project will be completed in the fall. The prime contractor for the project is Swank Construction Co. LLC of New Kensington.
