Cause of Hudec's Death Will Not Be Determined for Months, Medical Examiner's Office Says

The cause and manner of death for a 20-year-old Richland man who was awaiting trial on multiple charges will not be determined for months, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office said Saturday.

Stephen Hudec died Friday morning, just two days after waiving his preliminary hearing on 31 counts that included burglary; theft; loitering and prowling at night; receiving stolen property; and conspiracy.

He was charged in a series of crimes in the Pine-Richland area that occurred from July through October.

Investigators accused him of breaking into homes and cars to steal thousands of dollars worth of electronics, a gun, cash and other items to support his drug addiction, according to court documents.

He also faced nearly 40 similar charges in Hampton Township.
