Burglar Arrested Inside Marshall Office Building Pleads Guilty to Four Felonies

Timothy D. Barnett was sentenced to 2 1/2 to 5 years.

pleaded guilty Wednesday to burglary and was sentenced to 2 1/2 to 5 years incarceration and 10 years probation.

Timothy D. Barnett, 51, pleaded guilty to four felonies—two for burglary, one for criminal trespassing and one for criminal attempt. He also pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of receiving stolen property.

Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas Judge Kathleen A. Durkin imposed the sentence.

police Officer Timothy Spontak found Barnett inside the office building at 115 VIP Drive about 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, when he answered a call for an alarm activation, according to testimony in the preliminary hearing.

The building is located close to the Wexford interchange for I-79.

Barnett surrendered when told at gunpoint to come to the back door.

Northern Regional police Officer Scott Rick testified at the preliminary hearing that cameras, including one reported stolen in a McCandless burglary, were found in Barnett's car. He said a fake moustache and sunglasses also were in the car.

Businesses on the first and second floors of the office building include Axios Advisory GroupAmerican Pension Benefits and Pennsylvania Independent Oil & Gas Association, known as PIOGA. Testimony showed that Benefits Network's office on the third floor was not disturbed.
