Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Edward J. Borkowski issued a bench warrant Monday for a 36-year-old man charged with taking a 2005 Mini Cooper S for a test drive and never returning it to Billco Motors in Wexford.
Jeffery James Yeargin, formerly of Mount Washington, did not show up for his non-jury trial on felony charges of theft and receiving stolen property.
The judge also revoked Yeargin's $10,000 bail, which was posted by Liberty Bail Bonds.
A Billco salesman told Northern Regional police that Yeargin came in about 7 p.m. Jan. 16 to take a test drive and never returned, the criminal complaint states.
Yeargin was arrested during an early April traffic stop by police in Cambridge, OH, according to the Daily Jeffersonian in Cambridge, OH, which is about 120 miles from Wexford.
A check of the vehicle's license plate revealed it should have been on a black 1982 GMC vehicle, the Daily Jeffersonian article states. A dispatcher then checked the vehicle identification number and learned it had been reported as stolen, according to the article.
