Area Agency on Aging Hosts Public Hearing on Plan and Budget

Along with the hearing, a presentation on the agency's protective services and techniques to identify elder abuse is planned.

The Advisory Council of the Allegheny County Department of Human Services' Area Agency on Aging will hold a public hearing at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Gold Room on the fourth floor of the County Courthouse, 436 Grant St., Downtown.

The purpose of the  hearing is to solicit comments on the agency's 2011-12 area plan and budget prospectus. Those wishing to give testimony may register in advance by calling 412-350-4083 for an assigned five-minute time slot. Speakers may also register the day of the hearing and provide testimony as time permits.

A presentation will be provided about the agency's protective services. The presentation includes information about operations, how to identify elder abuse and common characteristics of victims.

The hearing will provide an opportunity for older adults, caregivers and other interested individuals to ask questions and offer comments on aging services in general. All oral and written comments will be recorded in the official proceedings of the hearing and sent to the Pennsylvania Department of Aging in Harrisburg.

Written testimony will be accepted at or after the hearing. All testimony must be received no later than Wednesday, either by email or by mail to: Allegheny County Department of Human Services, Area Agency on Aging, 441 Smithfield Street, second floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
