Animal Friends to Offer Low-Cost Rabies Clinics

Have your pets vaccinated at $10 clinics and reduce the risk of them contracting rabies.

Now that summer is here, there is a greater chance that your dog or cat could contract rabies from wild animals.

It also is a state law that all cats and dogs must be vaccinated against the disease. Owners found breaking the law could be fined as much as $300.

To assist pet owners in protecting their pets against this preventable disease, Animal Friends is offering low-cost Rabies Clinics throughout the area.

Animal Friends reminds pet owners that if rabies is left untreated, it is almost always fatal. The disease is usually spread through a bite from an infected animal including dogs, cats, foxes, raccoons, skunks and bats. The group urge people to contact local police or an animal control agency if anyone notices an animal acting in an aggressive or erratic behavior.
