22-Year-Old Pleads Guilty to Felony Sex Offenses Involving Pine Teenage Girl

Adam Wagner is required to register as a sex offender on the Megan's Law registry.

A 22-year-old college student pleaded guilty Thursday to two felony counts of sexual contact with a minor in a case involving a teenage girl from Pine Township.

Adam Michael Wagner of Pittsburgh pleaded guilty to unlawful contact with a minor — sexual offenses and statutory sexual assault.

Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Jill E. Rangos accepted the plea and told Wagner he is required to register as a sexual offender under Megan's Law.

The commonwealth withdrew two other charges — involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person less than 16 and aggravated indecent assault of a person less than 16.

Sentencing is set for March 1 and the defense asked for a pre-sentencing report.

Because Wagner is a student at Slippery Rock University, defense attorney Stanton D. Levenson asked if stipulations regarding computer use could be changed.

Rangos said he is allowed to use a computer for word processing only and not Internet access.

Wagner's contact with the 15-year-old girl started on Facebook through a mutual friend in the fall of 2010, the minor testified in a preliminary hearing in August.

Under questioning by Assistant District Attorney Lisa Carey at the preliminary hearing, the girl testified that her Facebook page lists her as being in the Class of 2013. She said she completed 10th grade and is in cyber school. She was 15 when she met Wagner; she turned 16 in July, she said.

After communicating on Facebook, the girl said she spoke to Wagner on the phone and he told her he was 21.

They met in person at Pine-Richland High School's homecoming game in October 2010 and then went to her Pine Township home, where she snuck him in through her first-floor bedroom window, she testified in August.

"We had sex," she told the court.

When she was questioned by defense attorney Levenson, the girl testified she knew Wagner's age and that he was a Slippery Rock University student before she met him in person.

She said it was her idea to meet at homecoming and that after an hour there, Wagner drove her to her house and they spent about an hour in her bedroom.

Asked by Levenson if she ever complained to the police, her parents or anyone else, she answered, "No."

She testifed that Pennsylvania State Police contacted her in late January or early February to interview her about her contact with Wagner.

Court documents show that a third party contacted police about Wagner after seeing comments on his Facebook account.
