Your Nomination is Needed: Where’s the Best Place to Get Your Taxes Done?

Deadline for nominations is 5 p.m. Wednesday.

‘Tis the season—to file your taxes, that is.

The deadline to file your tax returns is right around the corner. While “Tax Day” traditionally falls on April 15, the IRS has extended this year’s deadline to April 17. This was done because April 15 is on a Sunday this year.

Also, Emancipation Day, a holiday observed in the District of Columbia, is April 16. According to federal law, District of Columbia holidays impact tax deadlines in the same way that federal holidays do.

In other words, there’s a two-day reprieve for us procrastinators—yes!

Taxpayers requesting an extension will have until Oct. 15 to file their 2012 tax returns.

Whew, now that we’ve got the deadlines figured out, we want to know where you go to have your taxes prepared. That's our question for this week’s Readers’ Choice poll.

Do you file online? Is there a local CPA you trust with your returns?

We’ll accept nominations on where to head until 5 p.m. Wednesday. On Thursday, we’ll publish a poll in which readers can vote for their favorite tax preparer.

To nominate a business, simply leave your suggestion in the comment section. Or, you can find your favorite tax preparer in our Directory and write a review. We'll choose the Readers' Choice winner on Friday.
