Rain Delay: McCandless Crossing Construction Behind Thanks to ‘Awful’ Weather

Developers are now looking at a spring opening for the Cinemark movie theater.

Those hoping to hit the pool weren’t the only ones affected by this summer’s rainy weather.

The swampy season has delayed construction at the McCandless Crossing development along McKnight Road, the Pittsburgh-Tribune Review reports.

Kevin Dougherty, president of Selma, N.C.-based AdVenture Development LLC, describes the weather’s affect on progress for the 130,000 square foot complex as “awful.”

“Muddy and cloudy and rainy. It's probably the worst construction season in a long, long, long time,” Dougherty told the Trib. “Despite that, we are making good progress.”

The opening for the Cinemark 12-screen movie theater has been pushed back from fall to spring, the Trib reports. Earth moving continues to take place to prep the site for the new developments.

Tenants for the final phase of McCandless Crossing include a Dick's Sporting Good store, a HomeGoods store, several restaurants and 53 Ryan townhouses.
