Noodles & Company Brings International Cuisine to Wexford Plaza

The restaurant specializes in pasta dishes from around the world.

Pine-Richland residents now have a chance to experience global cuisine without leaving the country—or even the area.

Noodles & Company, a fast casual chain specializing in noodle dishes from Thailand to Italy, opened this week in the Wexford Plaza, near Whole Foods, along Perry Highway.

“The basis of our menu is flavors inspired from around the world, and then we also have soups, salads and sandwiches,” said Noodles & Company spokeswoman Mandy Melby.

The Colorado-based company—which has more than 300 locations in 28 states—began opening restaurants in the Pittsburgh market in 2011, Melby said.

In December, Noodles & Company opened in Cranberry and Monroeville. There also are locations in Market Square in Pittsburgh and on Forbes Avenue in Oakland.

“When we enter a market, we really look for opportunities to grow the brand much beyond one or two restaurants,” Melby said.

As for the globally inspired menu, it includes noodles from three cuisines—Asian, Mediterranean and American. Some of the featured items are Wisconsin Mac & Cheese, Pad Thai and Pesto Cavatappi.

Melby added the company focuses on high-quality, fresh ingredients. Most of the dishes start as vegetarian plates with the option of adding a protein. Once meat is added, most dishes cost around $8, Melby said.

“Everything is cooked to order just as the guest prefers it,” she said.

The restaurant also offers a variety of soups and salads to customers.
