Nearby: Juniper Grill on the Way, Noodles & Company, Men's Wearhouse Opening Soon

An upscale eatery specializing in southwest cuisine, Juniper Grill is the latest business coming to the Route 228 retail center.

The parking lot at the new Cranberry Crossroads shopping center is about to get a whole lot busier.

Already home to the new two-story Dick’s Sporting Goods, which opened in October, the retail center on Route 228 has several more businesses on the verge of opening, including Noodles & Company, Men’s Wearhouse and Verizon.

A "fast casual" chain specializing in noodle dishes from Thailand to Italy, Noodles & Company is expected to open in the first or second week of December, according to ECHO Realty, the development company behind Cranberry Crossroads.

The restaurant, which already has locations in Market Square in Pittsburgh and Forbes Avenue in Oakland, also serves sandwiches, soups and salads.

Men’s Wearhouse, a chain retailer selling suits, ties and other clothes for men, is expected to open before the end of November, according to Phil Bishop, vice president of ECHO.

Located in the same building at Noodles & Company, a Verizon Wireless store is set to open next week, possibly by Friday, Nov. 16.

A UPMC Urgent Care also is scheduled to open in the complex by mid-January, according to ECHO.

Located in a separate, standalone building behind the Men’s Wearhouse and Noodles & Company, the La-Z-Boy furniture store should open by mid-December.

Also in the works are plans for a Juniper Grill, an upscale eatery specializing in southwest cuisine.

Owned by Restaurant Holdings Inc., which also operates the Atria’s restaurants in the region and the Mike Ditka’s restaurant in Chicago and in Robinson Township, Juniper Grill also has a location in Peters Township.

According to the Juniper Grill website, the restaurant’s menu was developed from the idea of serving “Cowboy Cuisine” —that’s American cuisine with a southwest flair—in a cozy and modern environment. The restaurant also features margaritas, sipping tequilas, craft beers and an extensive wine list.

Juniper Grill recently was voted as having the “Best Burger” in the Peter’s Patch Readers’ Choice awards.

Phil Bishop, vice president of ECHO, said plans for the Juniper Grill are still in the design stage. An opening date for the restaurant has not yet been determined, he said.
