Business Spotlight: Caramel is King at Popcorn-n-That

The business, with locations in Wexford and Ambridge, pops at least 20 different flavors a month.

Linda Boehmig and Jean DeFilippis know a thing or two about popcorn. For nine years, they have been popping a wide array of gourmet popcorn at their Popcorn-N-That shops in Wexford and Ambridge.

“We’re known for our caramel popcorn, we make it all homemade, all from scratch," said Boehmig. "It’s actually a family recipe.”

Caramel is the basis for their premium gourmet popcorns that include combinations, such as this month's special flavor of the month, drizzled dark chocolate strawberry caramel corn.

All of their popcorn is air-popped -- no oil -- which helps offset all of that sugar and chocolate.
Boehmig said there are healthier alternatives for popcorn lovers watching their weight.

“If you're looking for a lighter, healthier side, our seasoned popcorn would be that," she said. "We have white cheddar, butter-salt, Nacho cheddar, salt and vinegar, dill pickle, parmesan and garlic and southwest jalapeno.”

The popcorns are available in a wide variety of sizes, ranging from 1/4 lb bags to 3 and 1/2 gallon tins. Containers are decorated for every occasion. There are also sports tins representing all of the area's city's professional and college sports teams.

Popcorn-n-that also ships just about anywhere. Click on theirwebsite for more information.

And you may be wondering why the store didn't go with the classic Pittsburghese "n'at."

Boehmig explained that "We chose to spell it correctly in our name so that anyone not familiar with Pittsburghese would understand. We ship all over the world “N’at”.

The Wexford location, at 10263 Perry Highway, is open Monday thru Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday – 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The store is closed on Sundays.
