Anniversary Celebration: Naturally Soergel's to Host Gluten-Free Cooking Classes, Vendor Expo

Gluten-free cookbook authors Silvana Nardone and Brittany Angell will lead the specialty diet cooking classes as part of the expo celebrating the store's fourth anniversary.

Gluten-free cookbook authors Silvana Nardone and Brittany Angell will present special cooking classes and book signings on Saturday, May 18 at Naturally Soergel's in celebration of the store's fourth anniversary.

As part of the day's events, Nardone and Angell will lead special gluten-free cooking classes at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Nardone is author of "Cooking for Isaiah: Gluten-Free & Dairy-Free Recipes for Easy, Delicious Meals" and editor-in-chief of the digital gluten-free magazine "Easy Eats."

Angell is author of the best-selling "Essential Gluten Free Baking Guides Part 1 & 2" and is founder of the allergen-free food blog "RealSustenance.com."

At 11 a.m., Nardone will lead a class focusing on gluten- and dairy-free recipes, which will be followed by a session at 1 p.m. when Angell will present a gluten-free baking class.

Customers will also have opportunities to meet many of the producers of specialty diet foods. Nearly a dozen gluten-free food and product vendors will be onsite throughout the day with samples of their products and to answer questions about living gluten-free.

In addition to the classes and vendors, Naturally Soergel's will offer all customers 20 percent off all purchases throughout the day in celebration of the anniversary.

Amy Soergel opened Naturally Soergel's in 2009 after being diagnosed with celiac disease in 2007.  She studied public health at Johns Hopkins University and received her master's degree in epidemiology from the University of Pittsburgh prior to opening Naturally Soergel's.

Over the past four years, Naturally Soergel's has been visited by thousands in the region living with gluten allergies and celiac disease and those looking for healthy food alternatives, according to the business.

The vendor expo and sale event are free, but tickets are required to attend the cooking classes with Nardone and Angell. Tickets are $20 per person and include both classes. Tickets are available online at www.Soergels.com
