Memorial Day Closings

In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, government offices in Pine and Richland townships will be closed on Monday.

and  also will be closed, as will Allegheny County, state and federal offices and courts. Banks and liquor stores will not be open either.

U.S. Postal Service facilities will be closed for retail transactions. There will be no regular mail delivery and limited collection runs will be conducted throughout Pittsburgh and the Western Pennsylvania District.

Express Mail however, is delivered 365 days a year and will be delivered on May 28. Normal delivery and collection schedules will resume Tuesday, May 29.

Vogel Disposal Service Inc., which collects trash and recycling for both townships, will be closed Monday. Trash and recycling collection will be delayed one day this week.

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation driver's license and photo centers will be closed, although some services will be available on its website.

Port Authority's Customer Service phone line will hold holiday hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Downtown Service Center will be closed on Memorial Day.

Light rail service will operate as two-car trains throughout much of the weekend because of the Pirates home games. Extra T service and subway local service will be added for high-attendance games.
