Open Mic Nights Give Community Chance to Perform

Calling all local musicians! This is your chance to croon out your favorite tunes in front of a live audience.

The Pine Community Center is putting local residents in the spotlight for a new series of Open Mic Nights.

The Open Mic Nights are on Friday, Sept. 20 and Oct. 25 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Pine Park Gazebo.

Performers of all kinds are invited to come and showcase their musical, vocal, magical, comedic or poetic talent.

"I would like to see all types of performers," said program coordinator Meagan Quail, who is in charge of the event.

Past Open Mic Nights have mainly had bands, but Quail hopes this year will bring a new and different array of talent.

Last year, the event gathered around eight performers who each had about 10 to 15 minutes to take the stage and entertain the crowd.

This year, it is still uncertain how many people will be performing. Quail urges any possible performers to contact her so she has a head count.

The event is also looking for a band to lend out their equipment and manage the performances.

"Last year’s Open Mic Night, we had a band that ran the night," Quail said. "They brought all their own equipment, like speakers and microphones."

For those too shy to last in the limelight, come and cheer on the performers. Remember to bring a blanket to sit on, as well as some snacks to much on.

Interested performers can contact Quail through email or by calling 724-625-1636 x158.
