Jackie Evancho to Sing for Japanese Royal Family

The soprano tweets the big news.

Richland songbird Jackie Evancho has been invited to sing for Japan's royal family, according to her Twitter account.

"Got invite to sing for emperor and empress, prince and princess and royal family in Japan. Tremendous honor. So excited," she tweeted Wednesday.

That tweet was followed by another that announced she was "just chillaxin on drive to airport."

The 11-year-old classical crossover singer is heading back to Japan for two concerts at Orchard Hall in the Bunkamura complex in Tokyo, her Facebook page notes.

She will perform with the Yomiuri Nippon Philharmonic Orchestra on Jan. 11 and with the Tokyo Philharmonic on Jan. 13.

This is an incredibly great honor and recognition of her amazing artistry! VERY few people get an audience with the royal family of Japan. What can be next for Pittsburgh's youngest ambassador? Will heads of state start falling over themselves to get on Jackie's calendar? So many dreams have come true for this wonderfully talented child, that I would not doubt it!

Cindy, Thank you for this article. The people of Pittsburgh should be extremely proud of their young prodigy who never misses a chance to praise her hometown!

Her fans are beside themselves with joy!!! The Royal Family is very musically inclined and I'm VERY sure 10 year old Princess Toshi had a LOT to do with this great honor.

Thanks to all of you for your comments! Jackie is indeed a great ambassador for the Pittsburgh region. Singing for royalty is a great honor! I wonder who will be next. The Queen of England? ;-)
