Singing phenom Jackie Evancho wants a kitten for Christmas.
The 11-year-old from Richland Township appeared Tuesday morning and performed "The First Noel" as she promotes her Heavenly Christmas album.
Co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck says every time Jackie performs there, “We cannot believe that this voice can come out of an 11-year-old.”
Jackie performed on when she was promoting her Dream With Me album.
“You are unbelievable. Welcome back," said Hasselbeck as she gave Jackie a hug. "It always takes us a little bit. We’re all sitting there in shock, listening to your voice.”
Then she asked Jackie what was on her gift list.
“For Christmas, I’ve kinda wanted a kitten for two years, but um, ” Jackie replied, scrunching her face and shaking her head.
“I think she’s earned a kitten,” Hasselbeck replied.
Co-host Joy Behar added: “She’s on the road. Probably, it’s hard to take care of it. You’re better off with a little dog, maybe.”
Then Behar asked Jackie if she gets stagefright or nervous.
“All the time," the pint-sized singer said. "Before I went on, I was watching the TV and watching the show, then they announced my name and I just .. then a big rush of butterflies came and I got super nervous."
Jackie said she always is excited to come onstage and perform, "but the nerves really boost up my energy."
Jackie recently joined Robert Redford in the filming of The Company You Keep. Asked about the experience of working with Redford to play the role of his daughter, she said:
“It was an honor. He’s an amazing guy and he’s so nice and he’s funny. He really made my first acting, er, my first real acting experience exciting and fun.”
Did she enjoy acting?
“I love acting, but, I mean, I prefer to sing.”
The co-hosts noted that Jackie has recorded with Barbra Streisand and Susan Boyle, then asked with whom she would like to record.
“I’d love to record with Lady Gaga; she’s my favorite,” Jackie said, adding that most of the songs to which she listens are by Lady Gaga.
