Jackie Evancho to Release 'Songs From the Silver Screen,' Perform at Heinz Hall

Jackie Evancho is one busy kid.

Her latest album, Songs From the Silver Screen, is set to be released Oct. 2.

And she is also set for another hometown concert. The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra recently announced Jackie will join the PSO at Heinz Hall for a concert celebrating great songs from the movies at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12.

There's a whole lotta singing goin' on.

For this third full-length album, the 12-year-old Pine-Richland songstress collaborated with Grammy-award-winning producer/engineer Humberto Gatica.

Gatica has worked with music giants like Grammy-award-winning producer David Foster, Michael Buble, Barbra Streisand, Michael Jackson and Mariah Carey.

“No one can sing classical crossover music with the technical precision, emotion and intelligence that Jackie brings to it,” says Gatica on the jackieevancho.com website.

“With the songs we’ve selected for this album, we can show her fans how her talent has only deepened and matured since Dream With Me, which I think was one of the most outstanding albums of 2011.”

The playlist from Songs From the Silver Screen includes:

"Pure Imagination," "The Music of the Night," "Can You Feel the Love Tonight," "Reflection," "What A Wonderful World," "Some Enchanted Evening" and "When I Fall In Love."

Her brother, Jacob, accompanies Jackie on "I See The Light" from Tangled.

Also joining her on the album are violinist Joshua Bell on "My Heart Will Go On" from Titanic; trumpet player Chris Botti on “The Summer Knows” from The Summer of ’42; and 2Cellos on “Se” from Cinema Paradiso.

The Canadian Tenors join Jackie on “Come What May” from Moulin Rouge.

In interviews, Jackie often has credited The Phantom of the Opera as inspiring her to sing.

“When I saw the movie version of The Phantom of the Opera when I was 7 years old, it made me want to become a singer—‘The Music of the Night’ is one of the most beautiful songs ever written and I’ve always wanted to perform it (in public)," Jackie said on her website.

“My enjoyment of the Phantom score is one of the things that gave us the idea to focus an entire album on songs that stayed in our minds for a long time after the movies were over.”

Tickets for the “Jackie Evancho: Songs from the Silver Screen” concert with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will go on sale at 9 a.m., Friday, Sept. 14.
