Jackie Evancho Among Star-Spangled Performers to Headline 'A Capitol Fourth' Concert

The Pine-Richland singing sensation will join Barry Manilow, American Idol winner Candice Glover and Smash television star Megan Hilty for the nationally broadcast celebration in Washington D.C.

Pine-Richland’s own Jackie Evancho announced via her Facebook page Wednesday that she will be among the headliners at the annual 'A Capitol Fourth' celebration July 4 on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. 

Broadcast live on PBS, the biggest birthday party in the country will be hosted by Tom Bergeron of Dancing with the Stars fame. 

The event also will feature performances by: music legend Barry Manilow; Candice Glover, the season 12 winner of American Idol; country music artist (and American Idol winner) Scotty McCreery; actor and singer Darren Criss of Glee and Broadway and Smash television star Megan Hilty. 

Five-time Academy Award-winner John Williams will be conducting music from the Oscar-winning blockbuster Lincoln with the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of top pops conductor Jack Everly. 

The 33rd annual broadcast of 'A Capitol Fourth' airs from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, July 4 on PBS before a concert audience of hundreds of thousands, millions more at home, and to troops serving around the world on the American Forces Network. 

The program can also be heard live in stereo over NPR member stations nationwide. 

"It's a great honor to return to our nation's capital to celebrate our birthday together on 'A Capitol Fourth,'" Bergeron said in a press release.  "It's a celebration you just can't find anywhere else, with outstanding music and, of course, the greatest display of fireworks… ever!"
