Free Movies on Tuesday and Wednesday Afternoons Sound 'Kean'

Kean Theatre to offer free movie series in October.

If you’re looking for a cheap afternoon getaway on a Tuesday or Wednesday in October, the has just what you need.

Free movies will be shown at 2 p.m. Tuesdays and 1 p.m. Wednesdays at the theater on the campus in Richland Township. The shows are open to the public.

The Kean Theatre is in Washington Place at 5847 Meridian Road in Gibsonia, just south of the

UPMC Health Plan is the series sponsor.

Here is the lineup for the Tuesdays@2 shows:

Oct. 4The Lincoln Lawyer (R) – A lawyer who works out of the back of his car finds himself in an ethical battle when a client claims he did not rape a prostitute. Matthew McConaughey stars. 118 minutes.

Oct. 11Peyton Place – The shameless novel about a small New England town. Lana Turner stars. 157 minutes.

Oct. 18Source Code (PG-13) – High-octane thrill ride that stars Jake Gyllenhaal jumping through time to stop a terrorist act. 93 minutes.

Oct. 25Jane Eyre (PG-13) – A beautiful remake of the classic story of a governess, her employer and a secret. 120 minutes.

The Wednesdays@1 shows are as follows:

Oct. 5Arthur (PG-13) – Delightful remake of the fun-loving drunk who refuses to grow up. Helen Mirren costars with Russell Brand. 100 minutes.

Oct. 12Valley of the Dolls (PG-13) – The book that was banned yet outsold the Bible in the 1960s comes to life on the screen. Patty Duke, Barbara Parkins and the unforgettable Sharon Tate star. 123 minutes.

Oct. 19Last Night (R) – A married couple spends a night apart and each faces the temptation of cheating on the other. Keira Knightly stars in this drama. 90 minutes.

Oct. 26Red Riding Hood (PG-13) – This is not your grandmother’s tale but a terrifying twist to the children’s story. 100 minutes.

St. Barnabas Charities, the fund-raising arm of St. Barnabas Health System, operates the Kean Theatre.
