Brackensick's Run Ends on 'American Idol'

The 17-year-old with Sewickley ties didn't garner enough fan votes to avoid elimination.

American Idol contestant didn’t receive enough votes from fans and found himself in the bottom three on the show’s elimination round Thursday night. 

The San Jose, CA, native later had to “sing for his life,” ending his journey on the show with his a song he also performed in early March.

Despite chants from the crowd to save Brackensick, the judges couldn’t agree to use their one save, ending his hopes on the Fox reality show.

Jennifer Lopez said she wanted to keep him, but Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson didn't agree.

"I only get one vote," Lopez said. 

Brackensick’s great-grandmother is , and his great-grandfather is Earl Cole of Ambridge.

A day earlier, the 17-year-old performed El DeBarge's " I Like It," as part of the '80s theme, and the judges called the performance his all-time best. Perhaps Brackensick  about being ousted when he told Ryan Seacrest that opening Wednesday's show could be a “double-edge sword.”

Seven contestants remain.
