What Does the Future Look Like for the North Park Lake Area?

Community input is encouraged at three meetings to develop a master plan for the area.

Creation of a master plan for the North Park Lake area is in the works and the community is invited to participate.

Allegheny County and the Allegheny County Parks Foundation will hold three public meetings regarding the plan, which covers the lake area and the lake trail. Community input is encouraged.

The first meeting on Thursday will introduce the North Park Lake Area Master Plan project and process to the community. It will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Rose Barn in , off Pearce Mill Road. Participants will be asked to share their experiences, thoughts and impressions.

"Your involvement and input will help to shape a vision for improving this significant community asset by building on its existing strengths and historic legacy," according to the Parks Foundation website.

The second meeting will be a presentation of design alternatives, including the Lake Trail. It will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 17 at the Rose Barn. After the presentation, participants will be able to provide feedback on the various options and project elements to help craft a consensus vision for the area.

The third meeting on Dec. 14 will be a presentation of the final Lake Area Master Plan and will outline plans for implementation. The meeting also will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Rose Barn.

GAI Consultants Inc., an engineering and environmental consulting firm, will conduct the meeting and prepare a final report due in late January.
